Woman with Hair Bun Ink Drawing | Portrait 244B

Woman with hair bun ink drawing for sale

Portrait 244B is an original woman with hair bun ink drawing by Italian artist Dario Moschetta. She is seen in profile, facing right, with her hair pulled back and gathered into a bun held by a clip. The composition is vertical, A4 format (21×29.7 cm). The head sits in the upper half of the sheet, while the bare neck and shoulder run down toward the lower left, so the drawing opens into white paper below the face.

Moschetta builds this black and white portrait drawing from line, dash and dot in black ink. First, he draws the hair with long, tapering strokes that follow its direction from the forehead back to the clip, and he shapes the bun with shorter curved strokes that leave small gaps of white paper. Then, on the face and neck, he switches to fine parallel lines that break into dashes and dots where the light is strongest, with denser hatching around the eye, the ear and under the jaw. Consequently, the dark, heavy hair contrasts with a pale, almost bare profile.

The close-up photos show the details of the work: the ear is drawn in tight hatching with a lighter rim, and the clip is picked out with a few firm strokes and white highlights.
