contemporary classical portrait painting – Head 57B

This is an original contemporary classical portrait painting. It is a one-of-a-kind work on canvas, not a print and not a reproduction. A classical sculptural head emerges from deep black into warm gold and amber light. Ancient sculpture meets contemporary gesture, and the timeless face dissolves into layered, molten texture. As a result, the painting works as a focal point in any room, from a private home to a corporate space.

A classical portrait painting built in layers

I build the surface in several stages. First, I apply acrylic and spray paint directly on the canvas. Then I add stencil work and a chemical transfer of printed elements. Glue completes the mix. Each layer adds depth and texture. Because of this, the image reads as both classical and contemporary. It is recognisable enough to anchor the subject, and loose enough to hold the eye. In the lighter areas, the canvas weave shows through the paint. No print can replicate that.

A signed original ready to hang

The painting measures 60 × 80 cm. Moreover, this contemporary classical portrait painting is signed by hand. It ships worldwide, carefully packaged and ready to hang. It is a unique work, so once it is sold, it is gone. You buy directly from the artist, and no gallery commission is added to the price.

The work is part of the Ancient Beauty series. The series explores the same dialogue between ancient forms and contemporary surfaces.
