Red ink portrait drawing on paper
Portrait 292 is a red ink portrait drawing by Italian artist Dario Moschetta. The composition presents a male figure in frontal view, the gaze directed straight at the viewer with a quiet, unsettled intensity. The entire surface is built through dense crosshatching in red-brown ink — no stippling, no outlines, no blending. Tonal depth accumulates through mark density alone, with darker passages at the eye sockets, jaw and collar dissolving into lighter, more dispersed strokes across the forehead and cheeks. A single orange ink splash above the crown sits deliberately unresolved, introducing an element of controlled accident into an otherwise rigidly constructed surface.
