Portrait 266B is an original original graphite portrait drawing of a woman by Italian artist Dario Moschetta. In this artwork, the subject appears in a dynamic three-quarter view while looking upward and to the right. Indeed, she shows a bare neck, hair pulled back, and a contemplative gaze directed toward the light. The composition is vertical, 21×29 cm. Furthermore, the figure occupies the full height of the sheet, so the shoulders smoothly fade into the delicate grey ground at the lower edge.

Moschetta uses a subtraction-based technique for this pencil portrait drawing. First, the artist covers the paper with graphite powder to build a uniform grey field across the entire surface. Next, he draws with a graphite pencil to reinforce the darker masses, such as the hair, the deep shadow behind the neck, and the anatomy of the ear. However, he does not draw the lights at all. Instead, he recovers them with a soft eraser, lifting graphite from the paper to reveal the white beneath. Consequently, he obtains the highlights on the cheekbone, the nose ridge, the chin, and the long lines of the neck by subtraction. In addition, this process gives the skin a luminous, almost sculptural quality that makes this monochrome fine art pencil sketch unique.
