Marilena Maiorani
Theatre practitioner and editorial contributor
Marilena Maiorani is a theatre practitioner and writer whose work spans theatre of research, scenic writing and cultural education. For over twenty years, her practice has developed across directing, performing, teaching and project design, with a strong focus on language, voice and the collective dimension of the stage.
She has conceived and led numerous theatre laboratories for children, young people, adults and elderly participants, developing long-term projects that intertwine theatre, education and memory. Her work includes scenic readings and experimental theatre projects presented in cultural and institutional contexts, as well as the direction of original theatrical productions.
A significant part of her artistic path has evolved within experimental and socially engaged theatre, working in complex environments related to mental health, marginality and the relationship between artistic practice and social responsibility. She has contributed to national and international projects, festivals and research programmes focused on contemporary performance and its theoretical implications.
Alongside her artistic practice, she has developed extensive experience in organisational and project coordination, working with complex structures and multidisciplinary teams. This dual background has shaped her interest in cultural systems, mediation processes and the dynamics through which artistic value, visibility and meaning are constructed.
On this platform, she contributes as an editorial voice, writing analytical texts on contemporary art, cultural platforms and visibility structures, bringing a perspective rooted in theatrical practice and expanded toward broader questions of contemporary visual culture.
Her editorial perspective on contemporary art and cultural mediation is further developed in long-form analyses published within the Contemporary Art Editorial section.
