CanCan
CanCan is a contemporary dog design object created by Italian artist and designer Dario Moschetta.
The project began from a simple hand sketch of a dog and gradually evolved into a sculptural object designed for contemporary interiors. Defined by a clean silhouette, lifted head and curved tail, CanCan reduces the familiar figure of a dog to a clear graphic form. The result is a playful but refined design object that sits between sculpture, collectible design and interior decoration. Through sketches, digital development and visual experimentation, the project explores how a minimal drawing can become a small contemporary design presence in space.

CanCan — Contemporary Dog Design Object
CanCan is a contemporary dog design object born from a very simple gesture: a quick sketch drawn on paper. The drawing captured the essential posture of a dog with just a few lines — a lifted head, a curved tail and a compact body. This minimal silhouette immediately suggested the possibility of transforming the sketch into a three-dimensional object.
Rather than reproducing the animal realistically, the project focuses on abstraction and clarity of form.
The dog becomes a simplified graphic figure that can easily exist as a small sculptural presence inside a room. The goal was not to create a decorative figurine but a contemporary design object capable of living naturally in modern interiors.
In this sense CanCan sits at the intersection between design and sculpture. It is playful and recognizable, yet reduced to a pure and controlled volume. The silhouette remains the defining element of the project: even when the object is rotated or viewed from different angles, the identity of the dog remains immediately visible.

From sketch to design object
Starting from the original drawing, the form was gradually developed digitally. The sketch was translated into a three-dimensional volume while maintaining the clarity of the initial silhouette. During this phase the proportions, balance and continuity of the surface became the central focus of the design process.
Working digitally made it possible to explore the object in space. Rotating the form, adjusting the curvature of the body and refining the relationship between head, back and tail helped transform the sketch into a coherent sculptural structure. What began as a flat line drawing slowly became a smooth and continuous object.
This transition from drawing to volume is one of the most interesting aspects of the project.
A simple line on paper suddenly becomes something that could exist physically on a shelf, a table or inside an interior space. The object keeps the spontaneity of the sketch but gains the presence of a small sculpture.

Material, color and variations
The concept of CanCan also explores how color, surface and material can influence the perception of a contemporary design object.
Different finishes can transform the same form into very different visual experiences.
Soft matte pastel tones emphasize the playful and friendly character of the object, making it suitable for relaxed contemporary interiors. Glossy finishes can instead give the piece a more graphic and collectible design quality. Textured surfaces, such as subtle geometric patterns, add another layer of visual interest by interacting with light and shadow.
Because the silhouette is so simple and recognizable, the object can easily adapt to multiple variations without losing its identity. This flexibility opens the possibility for different scales, colors and material interpretations.
In its essence, CanCan remains a small contemporary dog design object defined by clarity of form and a playful spirit — a design piece that originated from a simple sketch and evolved into a sculptural presence for modern spaces.
